#wentravelogue4 - Hong Kong travel guide (1)

Went to Hong Kong again about a month back with the clique. It was a pretty rushing trip but also a fulfilling one ^^
Hong Kong travel itinerary on a budget

Day 1 (29/04)
Took a Jetstar flight from 6.25am and touched down around 10.20am? Flight tickets were $200.16 for 2-ways since we got it during a 1-for-1 sale where the return flight was free.
How to get from Hong Kong Airport to the city? Once at the airport, we went to look for a CTS counter to buy attraction tickets for cheaper rates, such as Disneyland, Ocean Park, Airport Express etc...

Then, we took the Airport Express train to Kowloon station (there are only 4 stations), the train ride was about 45minutes long.

Once we got down from Kowloon, we took a free shuttle bus (bus K1) at the basement to our hotel, Eaton Hong Kong (located in Jordan). We stayed in the family room. Hotel was good, clean, near the MTR and a very delicious restaurant opposite the hotel called Fat Kee. Their french toast is awesome!

It took about 30 minutes. There are many free shuttle buses going to different places too!

Initial plan was to visit Lantau Island since we already booked the tickets. It is better to buy online as it is slightly cheaper and you need not queue. But due to some problems with our check in, we just decided to explore the city.

Headed to my favourite shopping mall of all time, Argyle Centre at MongKok MTR. While the guys went to Fa Yuen Street nearby to look for cheap shoes! Argyle Centre is like an aircon-ed Bugis Street, things are damn cheap! Tops going for 50HKD (SGD8) or below and fake Haters cap at like 30HKD (SGD5). The top floor has 2 shops which I always go to. Nothing over 45HKD but all are fashionable stuff! :D

Went nearby to have the best Bai Wei cold noodles ever.

At night, we went to DimDimSum near our hotel for dinner. Finally tried the Piggy Liu Sha Bao! ^^ The Bo Lo Bao was super nice too! And the Chee Cheong Fan :D

Address: 21-23 Man Ying St, Jordan, Kowloon, HongKong

Day 2 (30/04)

Headed to Disneyland today and it was my first time going there with my friends.

Getting there: Take the MTR to Sunny Bay and change train to the Disney Express

The festival of the Lion King. Highly recommended.

It was fun as usual and we always magically feel younger there ^^ Don't forget to catch the parade! It's a MUST WATCH in every Disneyland. It's 3.30pm if I'm not wrong. Just sit around where everyone else is sitting or ask the Disney crew where it will be held us.

Must be the "Disney magic"! :D Stay for the 8pm fireworks, even if it rains! It's definitely worth it!

Day 3 (01/05)

Went to eat One Dim Sum today! ^^ Reached there around 10.30am but still waited for around 1hour and 15 minutes :( Heard from some uncle that along the stretch of road (One Dim Sum on your left), there is a shop that sells super nice Bo Lo Bao!

Food is super cheap and nice (: No wonder it's a Michelin star Restaurant! What I liked: the porridge, har gow, siew mai, the soup (forgot what name!)

Address: Kenwood Mansion, 15 Playing Field Road, Prince Edward MTR

Walked over to Fa Yuen Street for some cheap shoes. But saw this shop on the way. Man Wah Restaurant. Headed there for some tea time. French toast was good!

Over at Fa Yuen Street, there were many rows of shoe shops! Bought a pair of Palladium boots at 990HKD (SGD165) It was a pretty good price I think! :D

Next shopping stop: Causeway Bay. Had Macdonalds since everywhere was over our budget + we didn't research where was good.

It was popular for their 4-storey Forever 21. We bought about 9 pieces in total and it averaged to about SGD15 for each item, be it shorts, dresses, shirts. Which is damn cheap! (:

Day 4 (02/05)
Headed over to Shenzhen for shopping time ^^ Remember to bring your passport!

How to go to Shenzhen from Hong Kong:
Take the MTR to Lo Wu Station. Single ticket costs about HK$36.50 (SGD$6.10). Takes about 1 hour from Jordan to Lo Wu. Cross the immigration and we're in Shenzhen! ^^ Take the metro line 1 (Luobao line) to Laojie station and come out from exit A where all the shopping is! Tip: buy the return train ticket first as it can be crowded at Laojie station when coming back.

It was my first time there!

Shopping was cheap, style and prices almost the same as Hong Kong. Didn't really enjoy it as there were many malls and most were not of our style. We had to go through every mall to "hunt" for good stalls.

Day 5 (03/05)

Early in the morning, headed to Australian Dairy Co. for breakfast. There was a long queue at 10.30am but don't worry cos it moves fast ^^ about 20 minutes waiting time.

Had their popular breakfast sets! The scrambled egg was so creamy and soft. The macaroni was meh. Milk pudding was not to our liking. ):

Went over to Keelung Park for a while. There were flamingos and birds.

Went over to the Hong Kong Museum of History! Students got a price of HKD5 while normal price was HKD10.

It was interesting with many levels and interactive panels.

If you're there, do cross the over bridge and go to the right. You'll see this store, Pie & Tart. The Milk Pie and Cheese Milk Pie is really recommended. (:

Walked over to Tsim Tsa Shui to buy our Timberlands at this mall called The One. The boots were much cheaper than Singapore's! Got mine at 160SGD! Heard from my friend that the boat shoes were muchmuch cheaper!

Had a quick homely dinner at Fat Kee opposite our hotel before going back to wash up for Lan Kwai Fong!

Ladies had free entries before 12am! Clubbed hopped between Club Magnum and Beijing Club. Stayed in Beijing Club instead! (: There was one free drink provided. Music was good and it was like Singapore's zouk? Went home and K.O-ed!

Part (2) in another post (:
