Hong Kong travel itinerary on a budget
Started our day with a unique drink - Milk with Raw egg. There was literally a raw egg inside the milk and you have to break the yolk, stir and drink it. Not my kind of food.
Headed to The Peak today! Go to Central MTR exit J2. Turn right and cross Charter Garden. From there, there will be many signs pointing to The Peak! :)
Tip: there's a choice of buying both the tram tickets and observatory deck tickets at a cheaper price. Depending on the mist, just buy the tram tickets alone first. We went when it was quite misty so we didn't buy the package. However, we went to the observatory and the staff will show you the the view from the top and it was so misty we couldn't see anything. So luckily we did not buy the tickets!
Took the tram up to The Peak. The ride was rather thrilling and unique. There were some shops in the building and some cafes to chill at. It wasn't really cooling as it looks though.
Because we did not go up to the observatory deck, we had free time to spare. Decided to explore the area and climbed up a hill to reach this park. It was slightly creepy to me as I could only imagine Silent Hill being filmed here :/
Had Mak's Noodles at The Peak! It was fantastic. The noodles were damn "Q" and the soup was fragrant. The wanton was bursting with shrimps. The best wanton mee in my opinion. But it was pricey :/ A small bowl for about 5SGD?
Went back to our hotel but had our late dinner opposite our hotel first. The second best wanton mee ^^ Look at that wanton! Yumyum!
Day 7 (05/05)
Today is... OCEAN PARK day ^^
Getting there:
Take MTR to Admiralty station. Follow the signs and exit. Take bus 629 (HKD$10.60). Last bus leaves Ocean Park at 9pm
My first visit there and I loved it! The rides were super thrilling and there was so many things to do.. aquariums, shows, exhibits, shops, photo takings.. However, no outside food is allowed as there will be a spot check! :(
We had to take a cable car up and the view up is damn nice ^^ Fits 6 in one car so we're lucky! We went there on a Monday so the queue was really short. About 5-10 minutes waiting time for each ride?
Our first ride, Hair Raiser!! Your feet will be dangling and there will be many twists and turns. Not that thrilling though.
Went to some seal exhibit where you can see walrus-es!
Next ride, The Flash! My favourite ride cos it swings you upside down. You can watch it on youtube ^^ Link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mQjFGAb95t0
Watched some dolphin show. In the background you can see The Abyss! (the tall tower) It made me scream my loudest scream ever!! Cos it brings you up like 10 storeys and drops you down. Gosh :( & the view of Ocean Park is awesome right? ^^
There were many other rides which I didn't take pictures of but they were so fun ^^ Caught the Mystique show which wasn't that great (as compared to Disney's) Walked through some exhibitions and went home :D
Day 8 (06/05)
Today we went to Macau and Zhuhai! Both of these places are nearby each other so it can be put into the same day.
How to go to Macau from Hong Kong:
Take the MTR to Sheung Wan. Take the Exit D. Follow the signs and walk through Shun Tak Center to reach Macau Ferry Terminal. Buy tickets there. We bought from TurboJet (HKD$134 for one way)
Took a free shuttle bus to the different casinos and went to St. Paul ruins. We took bus 3 from the hotel and just get off when everyone does, follow the crowd and you'll get to Senado Square (which is near to St. Paul) There is also street food to fill your tummy.
After St Paul ruins, head back to Senado Square, take bus 10 to the border of Macau where the immigration to Zhuhai is!
Once you're out from Zhuhai immigration, take the escalator down and you will see Gongbei Undergound Shopping Mall. I felt that this was the best shopping trip ever!
There are many sections in Gongbei Underground Shopping Mall and it is clearly indicated at the ceiling. There are women's fashion, beauty section, electronics and men's fashion... etc.
Clothes there were very cheap. SGD$20 for 3 pieces. In Singapore, they would probably cost $10-$15 for 1 piece! Also did a 1hr massage and manicure there for only SGD$15 for both!! Super worth it and cheap.
There was a ferry back to HongKong directly but we missed the last one at 9.30pm ): So we went through the Zhuhai customs back to Macau customs. We took a free shuttle bus to Venetian Sands as this casino is nearest to the ferry terminal. From Venetian Sands, take another free shuttle bus to Macau Ferry Terminal. Bought our tickets back and home sweet home (:
Day 9 (07/05)
Last day! Boohoo! T_T
Took the free shuttle bus K1 from our hotel, Eaton Hotel Hong Kong, back to Kowloon station. Bought our Airport Express tickets from Kowloon>Airport and deposited our luggage at the "Left baggage" counter. (right at the end) There is a complimentary quick check in counter there for those who bought the Airport Express tickets!
Took the MTR to Tung Chung station and Citygate is just outside ^^ Most of the shops sell stuff from the previous season or are in huge sizes. There are also shops like The Body Shop, Samsonite etc where it is cheaper to buy staple items such as bath soap, luggage, cleaning kits etc.
Found this so cute. A neat line of trolleys for us to take once we come out of the Airport Express train.
And it was time to go home! :( Went back to Kowloon station to collect our luggage and took the airport express back to the Airport!
Goodbye HK! I'll be back...
